Today, Dr. Civin is a senior psychologist at Rose Hill Psychological Services, an award-winning, community-based mental health center located in the Bronx, New York City. He helped establish the practice in 2008 with the goal of providing high-quality psychotherapy and psychoanalysis to individuals seeking professional mental health support. In addition to his work at Rose Hill, he has maintained a private practice since 2007, serving clients in Manhattan, Astoria, and Bayville. His professional expertise includes psychodiagnostics, adult psychology, adolescent psychology, group psychology, and clinical supervision.

An important part of Dr. Civin’s career has also been his commitment to professional leadership and education. Over the years, he has served as a full professor, associate professor, and faculty member at several institutions of higher learning. His scholarly work has been published in respected medical journals and included as chapters in notable psychology books, reflecting his dedication to expanding knowledge within the field.

Dr. Civin’s academic accomplishments laid the groundwork for these achievements. He earned his A.B. degree with cum laude honors from Harvard College in 1968 before attending Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He later completed a Master of Arts at the University of Oregon, followed by a second M.A. in Clinical Psychology from the Gordon F. Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies at Adelphi University. In 1988, he received his Ph.D. from Adelphi University and further strengthened his clinical expertise by earning a Postdoctoral Certificate in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy in 1993.

Through his clinical practice, academic service, and scholarly contributions, Michael A. Civin PhD continues to make a lasting impact on the field of psychology. His career reflects a balanced commitment to patient care, professional education, and the ongoing advancement of mental health services.
